FAMILY BLENDS COLLECTION

When the Rice family planted Sunstone’s 25-acre vineyard in 1990, they knew that good wine started with caring for the land. Second generation winemaker, Bion Rice, strives to capture the unique character of the estate and local vineyards and artistically blends the barrel-aged components into elegant wines with balanced structure and soft mouth-feel. The Family Blends Collection represents Bion’s passion for blending.

The 2012 Milestone, named after Bion’s 12-year old son “Miles” is an estate blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. The 2013 Villa Sole is a Super-Tuscan inspired blend of 45% Sangiovese, 40% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The 2013 Mason Cuvée, named after Bion’s ten-year old son, is an estate blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 10% Syrah. All three wines are bold and well balanced reds that taste great now, but will develop nicely through 2020.
