CEO & OwnerDjamila oversees every facet of the organization—from vineyards and winemaking, to hospitality and e-commerce—at Santa Barbara County’s most visited tasting room and the world renown Sunstone Villa. A former IP attorney with a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco and a B.A. from UCLA, she brings a combination of legal expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and operational leadership to one of California’s most iconic wine estates. Since acquiring Sunstone in 2019, she has led its evolution into a multifaceted brand—expanding beyond organically farmed vineyards and award-winning wines into luxury accommodations, signature events, and innovative wellness-driven product lines. Recognized by Pacific Coast Business Times as a “40 Under 40” leader and by UCLA as part of the “Bruin Business 100,” Djamila also shapes the future of California agriculture and community development through her roles with the UCSB Economic Forecast Project and the Santa Barbara County Agricultural Advisory Committee. Fluent in English and Spanish and holding dual U.S.-Mexico citizenship, she embodies Sunstone’s enduring spirit of heritage, hospitality, and innovation.
Teddy Cabugos
President & OwnerSince acquiring Sunstone in 2019, Teddy—the first Filipino winery owner in American history—has led the revitalization of one of Santa Barbara County’s most iconic wine estates. With over a decade of experience in global entertainment licensing and brand development, Teddy’s focus on business development, strategic partnerships, and bold marketing initiatives has elevated Sunstone into a global destination celebrated for its award-winning wines, luxury hospitality, and innovative new beverage lines. His entrepreneurial vision has fueled Sunstone’s launch of innovative lifestyle beverages like SUNSTONE SPRITZ™ and SOLIS™, pioneering products that embody today’s growing movement toward health-conscious and mindful consumption. Beyond the winery, Teddy serves on the boards of the California Travel Association and the Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, where he champions the future of California’s wine, travel, and hospitality industries.

Michael Miroballi
WinemakerMichael is a Santa Ynez Valley local with more than 16 years of winemaking experience, recognized for his mastery of crafting Rhône, Burgundy, and Bordeaux varietals. Known for blending artistry with precision, he creates wines that reflect both elegance and terroir, earning him respect in wine communities locally and beyond. His career includes nearly a decade as Head Winemaker at Margerum Wine Company, where his wines achieved multiple Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast Top 100 accolades. At Sunstone, Michael’s focus extends beyond the cellar—he mentors and educates the winery team to ensure servers share his passion and knowledge, offering guests world-class wine experiences that embody the pride and heritage of the Santa Ynez Valley.
Barbara Seguine
Director of HospitalityBarbara brings a lifetime of passion for wine and hospitality to the Sunstone tasting room. Raised in the heart of California’s Central Coast, where a wine cellar was a staple in her family home, Barbara grew up with an enduring appreciation for the beauty of wine and the joy of sharing it with others. Her journey led her through experiences at wineries such as DAOU Vineyards and Chamisal Vineyards, where she refined her craft in both service and leadership. A certified wine professional with a WSET Level 2 Award in Wines (Distinction), Barbara combines her deep knowledge with genuine warmth and five-star hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, inspired, and at home. Guided by her vision of creating unforgettable experiences, she is devoted to making every visit to Sunstone a celebration of heritage, community, and world-class wines.
