FIRST COURSE
CARNITAS TACOS WITH RASPBERRY PICO DE GALLO
Paired With: SUNSTONE 2020 SYRAH ROSÉ
Our 2020 Syrah Rosé is not as light as most rosés. Given that it drinks like a very light red wine (think Gamay), it can stand up to fattier and meatier dishes than most rosés. The perfect choice in this case is Carnitas or its cousin, pulled pork, whether it’s in a tortilla/taco or served as a slider. The bonus on this pairing is the raspberry pico de gallo served alongside it, which flawlessly complements the raspberry notes in the wine. Enjoy!

SECOND COURSE
COCONUT ROASTED CHICKEN
Paired With: SUNSTONE 2020 HEART TREE RESERVE
You can’t get more “Valentine’s Day” than a wine named “Heart Tree”, especially when that wine is named after a beloved tree at the Sunstone estate that was the site of so many proposals and weddings. White Rhone blends, particularly ones heavy in Roussanne like our 2020 Heart Tree Reserve, pair best with roasted poultry or meaty fish. In this case, we’ve chosen roasted chicken to pair. But what makes this recipe so ideal is that it is cooked in coconut milk, which matches the coconut notes in the wine. It is then topped with slices of lemon, which accent the notes of lemon zest and lemon butter in the wine. You’ll love this!

THIRD COURSE
CHOCOLATE CHERRY VALENTINE’S HEARTS
Paired With: SUNSTONE 2019 VILLA SOLEIL
No Valentine’s Day Dinner could be complete without chocolate! Chocolate can be difficult to pair with non-dessert wines, but the three red varietals that can successfully pair with chocolate happen to be the same ones in our estate-grown 2019 Villa Soleil: Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc. This wine has cherry notes both on the nose and on the palate, making it a great fit to pair with a dessert with cherries. Not only is this pairing delicious, but the dish is easy to make and is shaped like a heart. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
